4th of July

Erik's Weekly Fitness Tip | Hungover?

How Ya Feelin' Today?!

So you had a little too much to drink this weekend. Guess what - so did the rest of America celebrating the 4th of July.  Beer, mixed drinks, BBQ, too much sun, and not enough sleep…is the perfect cocktail to feel downright awful this morning.  We’ve all been there, but that’s not helping your aching head right now.  Here are some quick ways to get back on you’re A game.

Water

Alcohol is a diuretic that will cause you to be dehydrated.  This is the first and best place to start.  Start pounding the H2O to rehydrate your body.  This alone should help you start feeling better.

Sport Drinks

Alcohol and sun can contribute to dehydration and loss of electrolytes.  Water works great, but if you prefer some that tastes better, a sport drink is a good alternative.

Coffee

My personal favorite!  Head to your local coffee shop and get a cup of joe to feel more awake and alert.  Caffeine can also help with that bad headache you have.  Again, be sure to drink water because caffeine can cause dehydration.

Workout

Sweat it out!  Sometimes the best thing you can do to get over your hangover is to get your body moving.  Head out on a run, lift weights, or even a walk can help the hangover blues.  Getting the blood moving and a little kick from the endorphins can be all it takes.

Sick out

When in doubt, turn off the alarm and sick out of work the next day.  Everyone has been there. Just don’t tell your boss I recommended this one!
